Proceeds Help Bring Golf to Children of All Income Levels in Santa Clara County
SAN MARTIN, CA - CordeValle, A Rosewood Resort is pleased to announce the 2010 launch of its annual tournament series designed to support youth golf programs throughout Santa Clara County. In addition to providing children of all ages the opportunity to learn about and play golf, the CordeValle Youth Golf Foundation (CYGF) Tournaments offer golfers a chance to play one of the most revered championship golf courses in California. CordeValle, a world-class golf venue designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., is poised to host the Frys.com Open in October and the 25th PGA Cup in 2011. The upcoming dates for the four CYGF tournaments are April 12, June 28, August 9 and November 22, 2010.
"We are dedicated to bringing the game of golf to every neighborhood in Santa Clara County through the work of the CordeValle Youth Golf Foundation," explained Alan Campey, Managing Director for CordeValle and Regional Vice President for Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. "We are excited to introduce the young people in our community to the wonderful sport of golf, but also to help them learn the discipline, sportsmanship, and goal achievement that is of such great importance in life."
The CYGF's focus is to support existing local programs where children, who may not otherwise be able to afford to play golf, receive instruction, equipment, practice, opportunities to play and, most importantly, mentoring by dedicated golf professionals, coaches and volunteers.
The CYGF charity series comprises four tournaments per year, each open to players of all levels. Golfers pay a $150 entry fee per tournament. In addition to a memorable day on the golf course, players enjoy a CordeValle-hosted, pre-game gourmet barbeque created by the golf resort's culinary team led by Executive Chef Luca Rutigliano. An awards ceremony immediately follows tournament play, with special prizes given to winning participants. The entire proceeds from the tournament benefit CYGF. Those interested can register to play at www.cygf.org, email ray.otis@rosewoodhotels.com or call 408.695.4588.
Some of the CYGF's past beneficiaries include After School All Stars, Gilroy Golf Course Junior Golf, First Tee of San Jose, San Jose Municipal Golf Course Junior Golf, YMCA, YWCA and South Bay high schools including Piedmont Hills, Live Oak, Santa Teresa, Yerba Buena, Del Mar, James Lick, Prospect, Willow Glen, Lincoln, Branham, Sobrato, Mt. Pleasant and Gunderson.
The CordeValle Youth Golf Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 2004. The foundation's mission is to expand access to the sport of golf for children of all income levels by directly supporting successful youth golf programs throughout Santa Clara County. The CYGF annually awards approximately $100,000 in grants to deserving programs. The foundation is funded through a $50,000 annual contribution from CordeValle Golf Club and raises an additional $50,000 per year through CordeValle's public charity tournaments.
