Hole Number 17 at CordeValle Featured During 2010 Frys.com Open PGA?Tour Fall Series Tournament
SAN MARTIN, CA - CordeValle, A Rosewood Resort, has proudly announced that its 17th hole will be a featured hole in the second annual Kodak Challenge. The Kodak Challenge hole will come into play at CordeValle during the 2010 Frys.com Open PGA TOUR event, scheduled to take place October 14-17, 2010. For the tournament, the front and back nines will be reversed, so the 17th hole at the Frys.com Open normally plays as hole number eight.
“We are pleased to be part of the Kodak Challenge when we host our inaugural PGA TOUR event later this year,” said Alan Campey, managing director of CordeValle and regional vice president of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. “We are extremely proud of our golf course and of the numerous accolades it has received over the years, but to be able to show off one of our signature holes to a national television audience is a great honor and a special thrill for us.”
The Kodak Challenge, which debuted in 2009, will feature 30 holes during the 2010 PGA TOUR season. Created to celebrate the beautiful holes and memorable moments in golf, the Kodak Challenge is a first-of-its-kind competition on the PGA TOUR. Players must play at least 18 of 30 Kodak Challenge holes throughout the season to qualify. The golfer with the best Kodak Challenge score relative to par at the end of the season will win the Kodak Challenge trophy and $1 million.
"The 2010 Kodak Challenge schedule builds upon the tremendous success of the 2009 season, offering players greater opportunities to participate and move up the leaderboard, while showcasing to fans the greatest scorecard in golf," said Steve Powell, director of development for the Kodak Challenge.
During the Frys.com Open, the short par-4 17th at CordeValle play will play from 295-320 yards, which will introduce a serious risk reward option for players to try to drive the green over a water hazard.
The 72-hole Frys.com Open will be held October 14-17, 2010. To learn more about the Frys.com Open at CordeValle, visit www.frysopengolf.com.
